I've always dug the shit out of tridents ever since I first saw the movie Krull and I finally decided to make one. I must have a half of a sketch book full with all the ideas that were coming to me so i took what i thought were the best parts and got to work.
I Band sawed the 3 blades out of 3/8" 440c at Gil Hibben’s joint during a visit, the head and both handles were turned down and bored out 2” diameter 416 bar and lock together with a spring twist lock and the base mace head was turned from a 3” diameter 416 bar then bored, drilled, slotted and tapped. I stopped keeping track of time worked on this piece when I passed 100 hours..
The wood is double dyed and stabilized Leopard wood (thanks K&G) and the 3 armed display stand breaks down so the entire piece will fit in a rifle pelican case.
Each blade is 3/8" 440c and 14 " long
Both ends measure roughly 3' and combines on the display stand the piece is 6'2"
