Blastech DL-44 9mm Blaster

My Personal Blastech Blaster collaboration build with OTTOComp STL.

Christmas 2016 my brother picked me up a beater Mauser C96 Bolo Broomhandle in 7.63×25mm Mauser. This model was made from 1921-1930. They have a smaller grip, shorter barrel and became associated with the Bolsheviks thus were nicknamed the “Bolo” Broomhandle.

I got together with life long friend, gunsmith Otto M. from OTTOCOMP, find him on Facebook. We took it down to the white, re-chambered it in 9mm and built it back to what a Broomhandle would look like new and added on the Han Solo Star Wars blaster features in and on.

We drilled and silver soldered plugs to the frame for the scope mount rail after taking it to the white and removing all the pitting.

We cut off the barrel, drilled it out and mounted a new 9mm barrel. Here we are lathing the new barrel down

We then sleeved the barrel so we could attach the flash hider

The heat sink was tuned down and ribbed from a 1 1/2" tool steel rod and silver soldered in place

Because I wanted this to be a functional and accurate blaster I went with a Bushnell 2x pistol scope

All parts fresh out of the bluing tank ready to assemble.

Completely assembled except the scope & mount. We fire blued and strawed all the parts as they were when the gun was originally made.

Being a knifemaker I had to build some kind of knife into this project.

Since broomhandles had multiple variations of stocks, we chose an old Chinese design stock that I could build a knife into.

I took the finished blaster to Hibben Knives for the first field test firing.

We scoped it in at about 25 feet so I was surprised when I was tinging a 18 inch steel plate at 150 feet.

My buddy Robert Malachowski had to jump in and try it also.
